Pillbombs (also known as Roly-Blowies) are colorful insect-like critters that roam the Familiar and Strange Realm's grounds, in search of all things sweet. Though passive, they are highly dangerous due to their tendency to scare easily and ability to cause small yet devastating explosions. This defense mechanism is used as a last resort to fight and ward off predators, with their wick-like antenna emitting a low hiss as a warning when lit. They like to travel in small packs, for once they explode they are left in a temporary state of paralysis, making them vulnerable to be snacked on. They shed their overtly sweet piñata hairs once a year, which are sought after by plushpets to use as ingredients or simply just to eat.

Pillbombs carry hundreds of their newborns on their underside, due to their children's carapaces not yet hardening. While the children themselves pose no threat, their adult counterparts are territorial for them in this state. Newborns make loud SNAP! noises in defense and have an acidic sour taste, making predators less likely to eat them. They lose this trait as they get older.

They do not make for popular pets.
