these silly beetles camouflage as buttons to help avoid predation. they're flightless, but their carapaces are very hard, just like real buttons! they feed on general plant litter. to impress mates, button beetles will seek out the most vibrant natural paints to color their carapaces in! they're naturally blue, but can be found in a range of colors due to this behavior!
